Giving Back in 2024

2024 is all about giving back!

I have been looking for ways to give back to the community so I have selected a few inspirational charities that I am excited to work with this year. One of these wonderful organizations is SafeHaven Freedom Ministries.

Safehaven Freedom Ministries

Safehaven is a collection of not-for-profits that deliver recognition, resources, and recovery by mentoring teens, young adults, and veterans who want their freedom and faith restored. They believe anyone can be in recovery, whether that be from addictions, forgiveness, pain, trauma, mental health disorders, or PTSD. Safehaven's mission is to help facilitate recovery by offering guidance, resources, connections, and more. Safehaven Freedom Ministries is comprised of several smaller organizations including For Lake's Sake, Indirect Fire, and Safehaven Healing Farm.

For Lake's Sake

An organization under SafeHaven Freedom Ministries that provides awareness, education, products, and services on fentanyl poisoning and substance use to teens and young adults.

Indirect Fire

Indirect Fire is an organization under SafeHaven Freedom Ministries that specifically works with veteran recovery and support.

Safehaven Healing Farm

The Healing Farm is an addition to SafeHaven Ministries where individuals can indulge in creation and nature through their walk in recovery. This farm will be available to the public in 2024.

Meet the Faces Behind Safehaven Freedom Ministries

Ada and Garrett Disinger are the faces behind the ministry at Safehaven. They have worked hard to channel their pain into purpose after losing their son, Lake to fentanyl poisoning 2021. Not only have the Disingers established these organizations to provide resources for healing and recovery, they have also taken time to create a safe space on their small 4.5-acre Eco Therapy Farm in Auburn, Indiana to help others in their own grief, recovery, and healing journeys.

Community Connections

I was introduced to Safehaven Ministries, For Lake's Sake, and the Disingers through a community outreach program that my daughter and a group of friends created through AmpLab. They established their own not-for-profit organization, Teens 4 ODAW (Teens for Overdose Awareness), to spread awareness and provide support to fellow teens. I chose to work with Safehaven Ministries and For Lake's Sake because it's something that my daughter is passionate about and I wanted to find a way to support that. Several of my teenage children and many of their close friends have been affected by addiction and overdose in their lives. I admire these kids for seeing a need and taking action in our local community to do something about it.

Join me this year in supporting Safehaven Freedom Ministries and recovery of all kinds.

"I have made it my mission to help others feel less overwhelmed and more satisfied with their lives while maneuvering through their own personal health journey and whatever that may look like. I make it a goal to meet others right where they are."
